Artist Talk: Group Discussion and Tax-Free Sales Day

Join us in the gallery for a group discussion with participating artists Rodolfo Edwards, Sonomi Kobayashi, Will McDonough and Elisabeth Page Purcell. Each artist will discuss his or her own work and then entertain questions and comments from the other artists and from the audience. It is also a tax-free sales day, refreshments will be served.

Rodolfo Edwards – Mixed Media: Rodolfo was born in Santiago Chile, on October 17th 1981. He earned his degree in Architecture and Urban planning at the Universidad Católica de Valparaíso Chile, 2007. He moved to NYC in 2010 to pursue a career in Visual Art. He was invited to study at The Arts Student League in the four year program and after receiving many grants and invitations, his art was acquired into the League’s permanent collection. He has exhibited in Santiago and Valparaiso, Chile; Argentina, Miami, Philadelphia, New Jersey, New York and Shanghai. Recently he has been working in the Art Residence Programs, Vermont Studio Center and in 2018 invited to Eileen Kaminsky Residence in NJ.

Sonomi Kobayashi – Works on Paper: Born and raised in Japan, Sonomi is a New York based painter and printmaker who is interested in science, physics, stars, nature, and spirituality. Her work has been exhibited in the US, Japan, and Europe, including Williamsburg Art & Historical Center (NYC), Lesley Heller Workspace (NYC), Galerie ARTAe, (Leipzig Germany), Galerie La (Ginza, Tokyo, Japan), and will be shown at The National Art Center Museum (Tokyo) in 2018.

William Allen McDonough – Still Life: The child of an antiquarian print dealer and an art historian, William has been drawing and painting since childhood. He received his Bachelors in Fine Art from The University of Georgia and completed his secondary as a Merit Scholar in New York City at The Art Students League. Alongside many individual and group shows throughout the city, he regularly exhibits as a Junior Member of the The Salmagundi Club. He sells landscape work at a gallery in Hawaii, Kapa’a town, Kauai and still life work in Swiggers in NYC. He is available for commissioned works on all subjects.

Elisabeth Page Purcell – Sculpture: Elisabeth says of her work: “Each piece of stone sculpture begins with the need to create a form with volume, a feeling of softness and sensuality, while revealing and enhancing the innate qualities and integrity of the stone itself. “ She has gained her art education and carving experience at the Art Students League in NYC, the Lapis Studio, Maretti Studio, Palla Studio. Pietrasnata Marble Carving Studio and the Shakti Studio all in Pietrasanta, Italy; and the Sculpture Center in NYC.
