Friends Friday Films: “84 Charing Cross Road”

September 24, 2021 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Register to guarantee a seat at this in-person event. This event will not be livestreamed or recorded.

Don’t miss the first Friends Friday Film movie selection as we once again screen movies, live and in-person, in Greenwich Library’s newly-renovated Berkley Theater.

The first film selection is the classic movie, 84 Charing Cross Road, a genteel British period drama directed by David Hugh Jones. Set in post-World War II London and New York City, the 1987 film is based on the semi-autobiographical novel by American author Helene Hanff and tells the story of a transatlantic business correspondence about used books that develops into a close friendship. The movie stars Anne Bancroft (BAFTA Winner for Best Actress), Judi Dench (Best Actress in a Supporting Role), and Anthony Hopkins. This film is rated PG.

For your safety, all attendees will be required to show proof of full vaccination (in the form of their CDC Vaccination Card or a photo or photocopy of the Card) or a negative PCR Test taken within 72 hours of the event. No one will be admitted without this documentation. Protocols may be modified as and when laws, science, and/or institutional requirements change.

This film complements the Flinn Gallery’s upcoming art exhibit, Not By The Book, opening on September 23. For more information about the film and to register, visit greenwichlibrary.org.
