Did you miss WordPlay: Messages in Branches & Bark at the Flinn Gallery, in the Greenwich Library last May?

The exhibition highlighted the work of Gyöngy Laky and John McQueen — artists who use materials found in nature often in combination with unexpected elements to create baskets and other recognizable forms. Each artist addresses contemporary issues in their work, often through clever words and symbols and codes.

Our Artsy Viewing Room, WordPlay Redux, talking twigs with Gyöngy Laky and John McQueen through August 30, will give you another chance to see works from the Flinn exhibition plus a few more works by these artists that we’ve added to the mix.

GREENWICH — Greenwich Library’s Flinn Gallery, in collaboration with browngrotta arts of Wilton, is opening the new exhibit “Wordplay: Messages in Branches & Bark.”

The exhibition’s opening reception will take place on from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday and the exhibit will remain on view until May 10.

“Wordplay” features the work of two internationally renowned artists, Gyöngy Laky and John McQueen. Both artists use materials found in nature in combination with unexpected man-made elements, to create baskets and other recognizable forms, such as words, symbols, books, and animal and human figures. The exhibition is accessible for people of all ages and will include hands-on activities for children.
