Join Gyöngy Laky, whose work is featured in WordPlay: Messages in Branches & Bark, as she talks about her unusual art-making process, which champions sustainability, original thinking, and the value of the unexpected. Laky is known for contemporary basket making, large, 3-dimensional letters, words, and symbols, and indoor and outdoor installations. She uses organic materials like apple branches and orchard trimmings and combines them with manufactured materials, such as screws, wire, zip-ties, golf tees, toothpicks, and coffee stirrers. Through her choice of materials and subject matter, Laky comments upon and engages viewers in environmental and political issues.
